“Superb dining Secret in Myoko”

5
Reviewed 01/Feb/2019

The Manager of Hotel Kufokan where we were staying recommended that our group of 5 dine here. We discovered a Myoko secret ... this was Superb Japanese fusion. From the Apple cream soup to the Peach sorbet all our dishes were outstanding. A great selection of local drinks , (the plum wine is a must ...try) and international wines. It has limited seating ( not unusual in Japan) and the owners ‘ attentive service made it a wonderful night out.

Wonderful French and Italian inspired home cooking. Fantastic chef whips up excellent dishes with locally grown and sourced produce and products. The food is so good, this is place could easily be successful in Tokyo or New York. Small place - seats 20 at most. Call for reservations.

EXCELLENT! Top notch chef using local produce. WONDERFUL. If you are in the area it is WELL WORTH a trip to this fabulous little spot tucked away in the Japanese alps.

“A hidden gem”

We found this unique restaurant through the excellent "Gourmet Guide to Myoko", available at our Akakura Onsen hotel front desk. The owners, Jin and Yasuko, have little English, but are welcoming hosts who meet every request with quiet grace. The food is amazing... an unusual combination of the fres...hest local Japanese ingredients treated to Provence style cooking methods. A further bonus is the wine list of good quality French wine at reasonable prices. The restaurant is tiny, with room for only 14 or so guests, but it has a lovely ambience. The selection of Jazz tracks being played was quietly sophisticated and enhanced the mood. It is well worth the 20 minute taxi trip from the Myoko kogen ski areas to experience this hidden gem. We will return on our next ski trip.
