Yakiniku Tomi Shimbashi Main store

Shimbashi is a great place for yakiniku, and Yakiniku Tomi feels particularly at home here. Hidden in the basement of an unassuming building, it has warm lighting, wood-paneled walls, and none of the stiffness that sometimes comes with high-end yakiniku. We had the ¥15,000 course with the ¥2,000 al...l-you-can-drink option. It is not inexpensive, but the value goes beyond the beautifully marbled Kagoshima wagyu. The thick-cut beef tongue was an excellent start: lightly charred outside, juicy and springy within, with a subtle sweetness that needed nothing more than salt. The wagyu was equally well handled, with the fat melting quickly over high heat and developing a rich combination of beefiness, caramelized edges, and almost buttery sweetness. What impressed me most was the pacing. Rich marbled cuts were balanced with leaner meat, tongue, vegetables, and noodles, so the meal never became heavy. Service was attentive without being intrusive. Staff offered useful guidance on grilling and condiments, changed the grill and refilled drinks before we had to ask. The thoughtful dessert presentation was a nice final touch. Tokyo has no shortage of excellent wagyu, but Tomi stands out for how well it brings together ingredient quality, grilling, pacing, and genuinely considerate service.

We had the ¥15,000 course, and everything was beautifully presented. The highlight for me was the chateaubriand, which was incredibly tender and flavorful. We also enjoyed two different cuts of beef tongue, each with its own texture and taste. The wagyu served with fresh egg yolk was another favori...te. The premium wagyu platter offered a nice variety of cuts, and the staff grilled everything for us, making sure each piece was cooked perfectly. The meal ended with a refreshing yuzu cold noodles, followed by ice cream for dessert, which was a perfect finish after such a rich meal. Excellent service, premium-quality wagyu, and a comfortable atmosphere. I would definitely come back again.

Japanese yakiniku is truly a case of either zero times or countless times! This Wagyu beef set meal is rich in fat but not greasy at all, melting in your mouth. Perhaps the best meal we’ve had in Tokyo. 10/10. Fantastic Wagyu and especially great service. Sakura was a brilliant waitress, and the other members of the team were just as attentive.
